Motorola’s list of Android Nougat 7.0 Nougat eligible devices is pretty long, but it doesn’t include the Moto G3, Moto E3 and Moto X (3rd gen), models that are perfectly capable of running the new version of Android OS. The owners of said devices are disappointed, for a reason. All three models can run Nougat perfectly fine, with two of the launched during 2015. The Moto E3 (as well as Moto E3 Power) was launched during this year, meaning that all three models are less than two years old. Google suggested that manufacturers provide their models with new Android version for at least two years, making Motorola’s decision even stranger.

Devices that already got the Nougat update include Moto Z and Moto Z Force as well as Verizon variants of the Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Droid Force models (US variants of the Moto Z). Next in line for the update are Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus, and Moto G4 Play.

There’s still hope for Motorola to release Android Nougat for the three mentioned models after all. The company is one of the first to bring new Android versions to their devices, as well as one that includes the highest number of models for updates. All this could mean that Motorola has plans of bringing Android Nougat to Moto G3, Moto E3 and Moto X (3rd Gen), but wants to bring the new OS version to the models that are part of the manufacturer’s current list of Nougat eligible devices first.

The said list includes Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus, Moto G Play (4th Gen), Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force, Droid Turbo 2, Droid Maxx 2, Moto Z, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Play, Moto Z Play Droid, and Nexus 6. So, if you own Moto G3, Moto E3 (and Moto E3 Power), or Moto X (3rd gen), there’s still hope for them to receive Nougat update. Maybe Motorola will make a new list after it ships the update to models from the current list of devices planned to receive the new Android version.

At the moment, the next devices planned for the update are Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus, and Moto G4 Play, which should receive the update before the end of the year.
