The much-awaited Microsoft event has kicked off already and Panos Panay, Surface VP, has unveiled the highly-anticipated Lumia 950 and and Lumia 950 XL by dramatically removing the phone from his pocket! Nice style, Microsoft!
The very first thing that Mr. Panos talked about is the adaptive antenna technology used in the new Microsoft Lumia 950. It has got not one but two antennas to keep you connected always even in places where the network signal is terribly weak. Talking about processors, the Lumia 950 uses a hexa-core processor, while the bigger 950 XL gets a better octa-core CPU, both from Qualcomm. These new phones have got tablet-class liquid cooling too, thus pushing all the limits of productivity.
In the display section, both the Lumias get gorgeous OLED displays and Glance screen technology. The Lumia 950 measures 5.2-inches and the Lumia 950 XL, being the larger one, measures 5.7-inches, while the pixel density is a whopping 564PPI and 518PPI for the 950 and 950XL respectively. The Glance Screen technology uses zero battery life while providing important notifications on the screen even when the phone is locked.
Lumia phones have been the greatest in terms of smartphone photography, and the new Lumias take the legend forward. The new Lumia 950 XL gets a 20MP beautiful sensor that performs amazingly in low-light and captures breath-taking 4K videos. There’s triple LED RGB flash which makes the photo look as natural as possible with true colors and prevents red-eyes. The camera has got a 5th Generation Optical Image Stabilization which prevents blurs to a great extent. And the best of all, the camera button still exists, which is a great thing for camera lovers.
The new Windows 10 Mobile is here and the new Lumia 950 and 950 XL are obviously the first ones to get it. There is 32GB of inbuilt storage, expandable upto 256GB and you can connect hard-drives up to 2TB! There’s USB Type-C port to charge the battery more than 50% in less than 30 minutes!
The new Lumia phones will start shipping next month. Microsoft has released the pricing and release date already.
