Micromax has launched its latest budget smartphone, the Micromax Canvas 6, just a few days ago. With this new all-metal smartphone, the company now seems to be following the likes of the Lenovo K4 Note, LeEco Le 1s, and other hit budget smartphones.
Apart from the above mentioned phones, one of the biggest contenders of the Canvas 6 is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. The first all-metal Xiaomi smartphone has got humongous attention globally due to its more-than-value-for-money offering. So can the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 beat the new-in-town Canvas 6. Let’s find out.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 vs. Micromax Canvas 6
Design
As far as looks are concerned, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is loved by all and carries a smooth full-metal body that does not go over-the-top to look attractive. It is something that everyone will like.
However, the Micromax Canvas 6 has got a design that is a love-it-or-hate it affair. The phone gets an all-metal body too, but it tries to look too shiny and can be polarizing for many. It does not look as subtly premium as the Redmi Note 3. But then again, looks are subjective.
Display and Processor
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and the Micromax Canvas 6 both get 5.5-inch Full HD screens. But in terms of processing power, the Canvas 6 takes a lead. The Redmi Note 3 (Indian variant) is powered by a six-core Snapdragon 650 processor, but the Canvas 6 gets a 2GHz octa-core Helio X10 processor, which is way faster. Do note that the Redmi Note 3 in China comes with the Helio X10 chipset.
Memory and Battery
In India, the Redmi Note 3 comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage, while in China, it gets 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, both variants expandable up to 128GB via microSD. Meanwhile, the Micromax Canvas 6 gets 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, expandable up to 64GB.
The Canvas 6 comes with a 3000mAh battery, but the Redmi Note 3 flaunts a larger 4050mAh unit, thus giving you some extra power to last longer.
Camera and Others
In the camera department, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 takes a lead with a 16MP camera on the back and a 5MP selfie snapper at the front. The Canvas 6 gets a 13MP camera at the rear and an 8MP sensor on the front. Just for the information, the Redmi Note 3 in China gets a 13MP rear camera.
Both the phones also get a fingerprint sensor on the back.
Price and Verdict
The Micromax Canvas 6 is priced at INR 13,999 in India and will go on sale soon. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 3 costs INR 9,999 and can be bought from the Amazon India website. Going by the significant price difference, we recommend you to pick up the tried and tested Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
