Today, Micromax released a brand new smartphone in its Canvas series, called the Canvas 5. So far, it has been priced at Rs 11,999 and is going on sale across online and offline channels.
With the Canvas 5, Micromax turned their attention to design as well. The smartphone carries thin bezels upfront, a metal frame, and a leather-like back cover. Buyers will also benefit from a double data offer from Airtel, and a 7-day doorstep policy from Micromax.
Nonetheless, Canvas 5 will face some competition from Motorola Moto G (third-generation), Meizu M2 Note, Lenovo K3 Note, Xolo Black 1X and so forth.
Now let’s dive into the Micromax Canvas 5 specs and features. The smartphone shows off a 5.2-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display at 423ppi, fueled by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MTK6753 64-bit octa-core processor combined with 3GB RAM. It also comes with 16GB of internal storage, which is easily expandable to 64GB using a microSD card.
Photography-wise, the Canvas 5 has a 13-megapixel rear camera with a Samsung 3M2 image sensor and Phase Detection autofocus that aids in focusing on a subject in 0.2 seconds or so. On the front, there’s a 5-megapixel selfie camera with flash, featuring a panoramic-like selfie mode.
A 2,900mAh battery is worth 10 good hours of talk time and 275 hours of standby mode. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. Software-wise, it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, and the company promised a Marshmallow update too.
