Just when we were thinking that the rumours of a compact version of the Meizu Pro 5 were all dead, suddenly a new image has cropped up which suggests otherwise. We can finally say that Meizu Pro 5 Mini is still on the cards.

A new image has come up in which a hand is shown holding the Meizu Pro 5 and alongside with this is a more compact version of the phone in all metal chassis. All the rumours and speculations clearly suggest this phone to be the Meizu Pro 5 Mini. Off late there were huge discussions about the Ubuntu-powered Meizu device and the MX6 but the Meizu Pro 5 Mini was almost forgotten when it suddenly made an entry. Here is the concerned image:Meizu Pro 5 Mini

A European online retailer had earlier listed Meizu Pro 5 Mini at a price of EUR 359.99. However, Meizu has not yet revealed its plan even to launch this smartphone. Meizu Pro 5 Mini is expected to feature a 4.7-inch FHD display and will most probably be powered by a 64-bit Helio X20 MT6797 processor along with 3GB of RAM.

Running Android 5.1 Lollipop along with the Meizu’s own Flyme OS, the Pro 5 mini is expected to pack 32GB of native storage that can be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card. The seller had listed that Pro 5 Mini will sport a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies, but this is still in question. The battery is expected to be of 3050mAh and the phone is expected to support 4G.

Meizu Pro 5, on the other hand, packs a Samsung Exynos 7420 octa-core processor (quad-core 2.1GHz Cortex-A57 + quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A53) coupled with Mali T760 MP8 GPU. The Pro 5 is the first phone to feature an Exynos processor besides the Samsung’s Galaxy series. It is also available in two RAM variants – 3GB and 4GB.

Comparing these phones, it is quite evident that Pro 5 Mini will just be a compact version of the Pro 5 and won’t lag in features much. Many users would apparently prefer this compact version for ease in single-handed usage.

Li Nan has suggested that this compact flagship will go probably go on sale in April with a price tag of around 2499 Yuan. Official announcement is yet due so take this news with a pinch of salt and keep your fingers crossed for the official launch.
