We have plenty of new details to chew on and this time it’s regarding the return of the Reapers in Mass Effect: Andromeda. The fact that Bioware hasn’t shown much gameplay (or much of anything really), either means this game will be totally awesome full of unexpected surprises or a bigger disappointment than the Mass Effect 3 ending (which is saying something).
EA and BioWare have finally delivered on Mass Effect: Andromeda
The reapers won’t show up again. It would be a huge slap in the face if they were seeding the entire universe with life and then destroying all life in the universe every 50,000 years. The Reapers are pretty much done in by Shepard. By the time they established the route between the two galaxies, his exploits were pretty much a legend, with only Liara still alive by then. They were a thing only in our galaxy and not the entire universe. Mass Effect: Andromeda will be placed in another galaxy so they surely won’t be there.
It’s supposed to be a new mass effect game and not a prequel or something that takes place during the time of the trilogy. And since Shepard already handled the reapers with either red, blue or green space magic, they probably won’t be of any significance anymore. The lore says they stay dormant outside the Milky Way galaxy before coming back and wrecking us.
There will most likely be call backs to the Original Trilogy here and there, but BioWare has said this is the first of a new trilogy. So, you should be fine if you haven’t played original trilogy. However, we highly recommend playing through the first three games, especially ME1 and ME2. ME1 is easily up there with KotOR as one of the best RPG’s of all time, and the trilogy is some of the best sci-fi in gaming.
