CyanogenMod was the most popular custom ROM for android smartphones and boosted over 10 Million installs at one time. But, all this ended with a sudden halt when the guys running the company fell apart. The Cyanogen Inc was termed a failure and closed for good.

LineageOS

However, the community came forward and took care of the ROM under a new name Lineage OS. And now, the Lineage OS boots on more than 500,000 devices, which is a great achievement for relatively-new ROM.

Visiting the statist page on OS website shows interesting tit bits. The most popular device in terms of active ROM installs is OnePlus One (bacon). It stands at 40,000 installs, followed by the Redmi Note 3 (kenzo). The third and fourth device on the list are OnePlus 3/3T (oneplus3), and the international Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300) respectively.

Since the Lineage OS is an upgrade to the CyanogenMod ROM, it isn’t surprising to see these numbers. Still, it’s a good number to boost of. Let’s hope that the community continues on this great journey and stays in for a long haul.
