The MWC 2016 is hardly a couple of weeks away, and we are very much excited for the new launches that the smartphone industry is going to witness. Among the most anticipated smartphones releases of the year, the biggest is the Samsung Galaxy S7 series, and following closely behind is the LG G5.
While the Galaxy S6 sold in good numbers, the LG G4 wasn’t a flop either. In fact, the G4 was very well-appreciated, while the S6 series gave users a touch of new technologies like wireless charging, edge display interaction, Samsung Pay, etc.
So it is obvious that the next players in the series are facing great expectations from the fans, and it will be great to see which phone becomes the flagship of the year. It’s Samsung Galaxy S7 vs. LG G5!
More Power Under the Hood
Flagships will use the latest high-end chipset from Qualcomm, which is the Snapdragon 820. So the LG G5 will be seen sporting this SoC across all its markets, while the Galaxy S7 will use Exynos 8890 and Snapdragon 820 for different markets. Nonetheless, both the phones will provide seamless, butter-smooth performance.
As for the amount of memory, we expect no less than 4GB of RAM in both the flagships. As for the internal storage, both the phones should come with 64GB onboard space. And if rumors are to be believed, then both of them will also get a microSD slot for expansion.
Better Camera and Battery
The Galaxy S7 is said to come with a 12.1MP rear camera with a larger lens for better performance in low light conditions. And there will be a 5MP front camera for selfies. The LG G5 will get a 16MP/8MP camera setup, and if rumors are true, then the G5 might sport a dual-camera setup.
As for the battery capacity, the G5 is rumored to get a 2800mAh battery pack, while the S7 might flaunt an around-3000mAh juicer.
Newer Software and Better Display
Android 6.0 Marshmallow has been out for quite some time now, and most 2015 flagships will get the update by the end of this month. Therefore, the Galaxy S7 and the LG G5 are expected to get Marshmallow out of the box.
Talking of the display, the S7 will get a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED screen (as revealed by a benchmark leak). On the other hand, the next LG flagship might sport a 5.3-inch QHD screen.
More Exciting Features
Given the sudden flow of new technologies in the smartphone industry, we expect the next flagships to come packed with some cool and useful gimmicks. Firstly, both the S7 and G5 will sport fingerprint sensors, and we might see ultrasonic fingerprint sensors on the phones. Then there will be wireless charging on the Samsung phone, though we don’t know about the G5. VR industry is booming nowadays, and the S7 will work perfectly with the Gear VR headset. Whether LG will make the G5 especially VR-compatible or not is something we need to wait and see.
We expect the Galaxy S7 and LG G5 to surprise us with more cool features, and we can’t wait for the MWC to begin.
Which phone are you waiting for?
