Start up Twilight Princess HD and you’re faced with the decision of choosing between the Wii U GamePad or the Wii U Pro Controller. With the Wiimote out of play, which option is best for you to choose?
As dissected by iDigitalTimes, the game appears to be optimised for the Wii U’s primary controller, the GamePad. The game supports the controller’s gyroscopic motion, allowing you to look around and aim your slingshot or bow using the GamePad. You also get to see the map or inventory on the screen. While the map isn’t that handy, it’s mighty convenient to swap items on the inventory. Twilight Princess HD also features off-TV play, so you can take the game around with you.
On the other hand, the Wii U Pro Controller feels better to use, and is especially good for when you want to accurately aim your slingshot or bow. Being similar to the Xbox 360 controller crossed with a DualShock, it’s quite familiar to use. You cannot, however, look around gyroscopically, and you are forced to pause to access your inventory screen and change your items. On the GamePad, this is a lot more seamless.
