Lee Jong Suk – the South Korean model and actor who debuted in 2005 as a runway model – was the youngest model for Seoul Fashion Week. The W Two Worlds actor won the Grand Prize Daesang award at 2016 MBC Drama Awards. But fans were disappointed because of his very short speech. The actor spoke for just 40 seconds. The content of his speech and the very process of determining the winner by fan vote only provided fodder for criticism on the internet.
Actor Lee Jong Suk Criticized For Short Speech
In his 40-second short speech, Lee Jong Suk thanked fans and others. The MCs of the show requested the actor to talk some more, since his speech was very short. What he said later sparked off criticism. The actor reportedly said that he had taken two herbal supplement relaxation pills which made him drowsy and left him uncomfortable to talk more. This apparently hasn’t gone well the netizens. Disappointed by the short speech, the netizens then went on to question the very process of determining the winner merely by fan votes, rather than by performance. One of the netizens commented – “From next year, just do one award for the most popular and one for actual acting ability. This Daesang is a joke….If you do it by fan votes, of course, a young male actor will win!”. Other netizens were of the opinion that Kim So Yeon deserved the award more than Lee Jong Suk.
Meanwhile, W Two Worlds won a total of seven awards at the 2016 MBC Drama Awards. Song Jae Jung won the Best Scriptwriter of the Year. Best Couple Award went to Han Hyo Joo and Lee Jong Suk. The Golden Acting Award was awarded to Kim Eui Sung while Han Hyo Joo and Lee Jong Suk received the High Excellence Awards in Mini-series category.
