Popular League of Legends streamer Tyler1 has been banned from League of Legends by Riot Games. The reason for his permanent banning is that he was “among 0.006% of League players egregiously negative enough to be permanently banned.” Riot describes his in-game comms as “extremely inflammatory and offensive”, leading them to take this final step.
Tyler1 became popular on Twitch for his constant trolling, abusive language and intentional feeding. Feeding is when a player (such as Tyler1) intentionally kills their champion in order to give the opposing team an advantage, and making their own team lose. Needless to say, the Internet thrives on trolling in all its forms, and Tyler1 found himself 96,000 followers on Twitch.
Riot caught notice of this player and instantly banned him. In their message, Riot accuses Tyler1 of a “well-documented history of account bans for verbal abuse, intentional feeding, … account sharing/purchasing, evasion of sportsmanship systems and player harassment”. But surely Tyler1 will be able to make a new account easily, considering the game is free to play? Riot has that covered: they also make it clear that any account found associated with Tyler1 will also be banned immediately upon identification.
