Riot Games has teased a new champion for League of Legends, named Taliyah. Her lore is fleshed out in a short story on the official site, which reveals that she is an earth mage and will be controlling earth magic, perhaps not unlike earthbending from Avatar, geomancy from the early Final Fantasy games, or… well, a Ground-type Pokémon.
According to the newly published short story, Taliyah comes from the Shurima Desert, which she has in common with Sivir and Azir. With Noxus forces targeting her home, she fled her hometown and made it as far as Ionia. She’s tied to the Ionian champion Yasuo, who encouraged her to hone her skills and to be a master earth mage. While Yasuo remains in Ionia to clear his name after being framed for a murder he didn’t commit, he sends Taliyah back to find a way to Shurima.
Taric has left the list of Earth-based champions, leaving it to Malphite, Galio and the new Taliyah. While Taliyah’s skill set hasn’t been revealed yet, The BitBag speculates that she could be based around crowd control, instead of dealing a lot of damage in a short time.
