IGN was able to ask producer Sam Raimi about the status of the big screen version of the hit video game The Last of Us. And what he had to tell us wasn’t very hopeful.
The Last Of Us Movie is in trouble
“Yes, I’m attached to it. I’m not too sure what that means. Right now it’s just sitting there. They don’t want to move forward, and it’s not my place to say why, and Neil, I think, is in a slight disagreement with them about how things should go so there’s a standstill. And I don’t have the power to move it.” (via IGN)
The best actors and director(s) can get the job for these projects but it all comes down to the studios. The creative differences always make egos clash and people drop out because of how execs and other people want it to go instead of there being some creative freedom. It’s as good as dead as soon as they get their hands in, too many cooks in the kitchen. Let TLOU and Uncharted stay in video game form please.
If you’re not aware of a YouTube channel called Gamer’s Little Playground, give it a look. They cut video games into movies, and they do an amazing job. So, if you wanted a Last Of Us movie that’s the best you can get at the moment.
We personally hope it never happens. The Last Of Us was good on its own. Sam Raimi is a bad director. They want to have Maisie Williams play Elie, which is a crappy idea. And Sony, as a movie studio, has been having really awful productions lately.
The Last of Us is an action-adventure survival horror video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was released for the PlayStation 3 in June 2013.
