Kingdom Hearts III has been announced for quite a while now, but Square Enix continues to be mum about it. It is likely that we won’t hear a peep from the company until E3 2016, where they might host a press conference like they did last year. Even before they make any announcements though, we know a few things thanks to rumours floating around on the Internet.
While Kingdom Hearts III does not have a fixed release date just yet, it was listed on Amazon with a release date set for December 30th, 2016. Amazon was then quick to point out that this is merely a placeholder date, and that no actual release date has been confirmed at this time. It does make us believe, though, that Amazon might know more than they’re letting on, and that the placeholder date might suggest that the game is in fact, coming out this year.
As for new characters, the field is wide open for Disney and Square Enix. After Disney’s acquisition of Marvel and LucasFilm, we could see the likes of Iron Man and Han Solo invading the Kingdom Hearts games as well. Then there are characters from original Disney properties, such as Elsa from Frozen, or Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.
