Apple unveiled iOS 10 at the 13th June keynote event of its WWDC 2016 conference. After that, iOS 10 beta 1 download was released for the developers so that they can start testing the firmware and can begin resolving the bugs and issues in it. This has given jailbreak teams like Pangu and TaiG a fresh chance and a fresh firmware to work on and find a jailbreak for.
iOS 9.3.3 is in beta and will be released soon, and if we don’t get an iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak, then there’s no point in waiting anymore. That’s because iOS 10 download will be available soon to the public testers as well, and jailbreak teams would already have moved on to work on finding the iOS 10 jailbreak.
Of course, it’s too soon to talk about it, but things are progressing fast and we do have to discuss possibilities. Fans of jailbreaking have been very patient, and no jailbreak has been released till date for iOS 9.2 and later versions. It is possible that some security researchers managed to find all the major exploits and sold them to Apple for a hefty price. This may have resulted into Apple patching those exploits and making it almost impossible to jailbreaking iOS 9.3.
But with iOS 10, the race starts again from scratch, as there will be new features that will usher in new bugs and vulnerabilities. It is being hoped that Team Pangu will find new loopholes in the firmware and will come up with a jailbreak for iOS 10 soon. Apple will release the final version of iOS 10 in September after releasing the new iPhone 7, so a Pangu/TaiG iOS 10 jailbreak release will happen right after that.
iOS 10 Jailbreak Compatible Devices :
We have prepared the complete list of iOS devices that will be compatible with iOS 10 and will support iOS 10 jailbreak when it comes out.
- iPad 4 and later (ie, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Pro (9.7in and 12.9in)
- iPad mini 2 and later (iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4)
- iPod touch 6th generation
- iPhone 5 and later (iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE)
- iPad Mini 2, Mini 3, Mini 4
- iPad Air, Air 2
- iPad 4
- iPod Touch 6th generation
- iPhone 6s Plus, 6 Plus, 6, 6s, 5c, 5s, 5, iPhone 7 [launching soon].
As you can notice, the iPhone 4s is missing from the list. Well, the device is too old now and it does not support iOS 10, so you won’t be able to jailbreak it with iOS 10. All you can hope for is an iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak to come out, and if that does not happen, then you will have to upgrade to a newer iPhone.
Update (17th June 2016): Here’s a good news for all the jailbreak fans! iOS 10 jailbreak has been found! Well-known hacker iH8sn0w who had earlier jailbroken iOS 8.4.1 and iOS 9 (but never released those jailbreaks) has finally succeeded in jailbreaking iOS 10. The hacker demonstrated the untethered iOS 10 jailbreak in a YouTube video, which also showed Cydia running on iH8sn0w’s iPhone 5.
But before you go all crazy and excited about this new jailbreak achievement, we should remind you that iPhone 5 is a 32-bit device. There’s no confirmation yet whether or not the iOS 10 jailbreak found by iH8sn0w will work on newer, 64-bit iOS devices. Also, the hacker can be trusted as genuine, but there is a very less chance of him releasing this jailbreak. Anyway, we’ll let you know if he does decide to give out the jailbreak to the public.
We will keep updating this page with newer details regularly, so bookmark it and keep checking back for iOS 10 jailbreak news updates.
Update: Good news guys, Pangu has released the much-awaited iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak.
Update (10th Sep 16): A YouTube video demonstrating iOS 10 jailbreak has just gone viral. The said video was released few days before the launch of the new iPhone 7.
The 44 second video was posted by Luca Todesco, under the account name Qwertyoruiop. It shows iOS 10 beta 8 jailbreak for 64 bit device. The iOS 10 jailbreak in the video is called yaluX. It uses semi-unthetered procedure, similar to iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak by Pangu.
However, Todesco is unlikely to release the tool to public. The video might just be for show off. Luca Tedesco has jailbroken several versions of the iOS in the past too. He resists from sharing the video though.
Earlier, the hacker team Pangu had also found a security issue on iOS 10 at the Mobile Security Conference in Shanghai. These attempts mean more hackers might soon be able to jailbreak the new iOS 10 too.
Update (13th Sep 16): Apple has is keeping up with its crackdown on the jailbreak community. With the release of iOS 9.3.5 update, users will no longer be able to upgrade or downgrade to the operating system. This renders the 9.3.5 jailbreak useless.
According to IT PRO, Pangu Team may be ending its work on 9.3.5 jailbreak tool to focus on iOS 10 improvements. The group was successful in developing the jailbreak tools for the iOS 9.3.3 and 9.3.4. However, Apple was very quick to patch their iOS versions. The iOS 9.3.5 is Apple’s answer to the iOS 9.3.4 jailbreak. The iOS 10 update will be released for Apple devices on September 13.
Update (24th Sep 16): The iOS 10.0.1 release has almost shut down jailbreaks. The new release came sooner than expected, similar to the iOS 9.3.5. Once the new update is installed, any prior iOS jailbreaks can no longer be cracked.
Earlier, it was reported that Pangu is having problems with their iOS 10 jailbreak. The issue seemed to be errors tied up to Cydia. It seems like Apple is staying one step ahead of hackers. The company has been constantly rolling updates to counter jailbreaks.
There still might be some iOS 10 jailbreaks in the works but Apple users are unlikely to have waited for those. Apple has been covering its bases very well for now. A report by mobilenapps says that one of the most reliable jailbreak tool creators, Pangu, is already working on a new jailbreak. However, we will have to wait for a new set of iOS jailbreaks for a while. Apple is scheduled to offer major iOS updates in October. This means a new iOS 10.1 jailbreak may come out early or late November instead.
The iOS 10.0.1 brings several fixes including the prevention of ‘Hey Siri’ requests and Bluetooth connection issues. There have been improvements to audio quality too. Other improved features include camera and Contact apps.
Apparently, the Chinese team, Pangu has completed its work on an iOS 10 jailbreak. However, it wants to wait before making the new jailbreak public. The new Pangu iOS 10 jailbreak is likely to be released after Apple’s next iOS update.
Apple has already released two updates [10.0.1 and 10.0.2] for its latest iOS. However, the company claimed that both updates were meant to fix minor bugs and no major changes have been made. Apple had revealed iOS 10, during WWDC 2016.
