New information pouring in from China indicates that Huawei is intending to compete with Samsung‘s latest flagship phone, the Galaxy S6 Edge, using a curved AMOLED screen on one of its phones.
The screen will have both sides arched and will be ‘2K’, which presumably signifies QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels). Huawei is believed to be planning a huge production of 3 million panels per month. That is some serious commitment from the firm! In case these rumors prove to be true, this will not only be the first curved screen but also the the first QHD Super AMOLED screen from Huawei.
While the source of the information does have a good track record of leaks, there are no images to be seen so far.
Until we have more information on the new technology, the company has given us something else to focus on. Huawei recently unveiled the Mate S with a high-end metal body and a 5.5-inch display with Force Touch technology. Other features include a 3GB RAM, a Kirin 935 chip, a 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, an 8MP front-facing snapper with LED flash, and 32/64/128GB of storage. Starting September 15, the phone will go on sale in more than 30 countries.
