Huawei has just announced a refresh for the “nova” lineup of smartphones in the name of Huawei nova 2 and Huawei nova 2 plus. If you though Huawei was only concentrating on Honor branded smartphones, think again, as the Chinese OEM has upped the ante with the new offerings. Huawei nova 2 and nova 2 Plus Features
Firstly, the design aspect of both the smartphones has been duly taken care of. They seem more refined and stylish than ever. Both smartphones feature metal unibodies and differ mainly in screen – 5” for the smaller model, 5.5” for the plus. These are full HD 1080p resolution panels with 2.5D curved glass sheet on top. The metal bodies measure only 6.9 mm thick for both phones, quite appealing, to say the least. Still, the battery capacity is decent – 2,950mAh and 3,340mAh.
Huawei nova 2 and nova 2 plus feature a new Kirin 659 chipset, it replaces the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC found the last generation. Hence, it will be interesting to see the performance improvements on the latest generation devices. Both of them feature 4 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage on the regular variant compared to 128 GB on the plus model.
Optics department gets interesting with dual cameras on the rear, consisting of a 12MP sensor (1.25µm pixels) behind an f/1.8 lens and an 8MP sensor to help with optical zoom and portrait mode. Things aren’t dull on the front end either with the presence of a 20 MP lens.
