Prior to this MWC season, LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8 were on everyone’s lip yet another smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer Huawei was able to create quite a buzz. All the rumors and speculations were verified yesterday when Huawei decided to go official with Huawei P10 and P10 Plus.
Yesterday a video posted on YouTube from the official Huawei channel showcased the hugely awaited flagship Huawei P10 and P10 Plus. The video provided a detailed specification of both the new smartphones by the company. P10 features a 1080p 5.2″ 2.5D display while P10 Plus sports a larger 5.5″ QHD 2.5D display. The video for the first time showed P10 and its bigger sibling P10 Plus in motion. Throughout the video, Leica dual-camera setup stole the show. Both the devices feature Leica Dual-Camera 2.0, 20MP monochrome & 12MP RGB at the rear, P10 with an aperture of F/2.2 and P10 Plus with an aperture of F/1.8. Other features of the camera include 3D facial recognition, bokeh effects which can be adjusted post the shot. On the other hand, top front of both the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus features an 8-MP lens with a F/1.9 aperture. Another interesting feature of the front camera is that in portrait selfies the front camera adjusts to include a wider angle if it senses there are more people in the selfie. The video also specified about the Highlights app, developed in collaboration with GoPro to convert images and videos into video reels.
About the hardware, Huawei has ditched Qualcomm in favor of Kirin 960 as the primary processor in P10 and P10 Plus. For the graphics. Huawei has imposed their trust in Mali-G71 MP8. Both the smartphones support dual-SIM LTE network with NFC, USB Type C jack, and other basic connectivity features. P10 gets its juice from a 3,200 mAh Li-ion battery while its bigger sized counterpart P10 Plus derives its fuel from a bigger 3,700mAh battery.
Both the smartphones look like a piece of work finished with an intricately sleek design. The color rendition of the outer body gives it a shiny touch. Huawei has already been talking a lot about the different color variants, P10 and P10 Plus will be available in Ceramic White, Dazzling Blue, Dazzling Gold, Prestige Gold (P10 only), Graphite Black, Mystic Silver, Rose Gold, Greenery. The colored frames were designed in collaboration with the experts from the famed Pantone Color Institute.
It is a well-known fact that Chinese manufacturers love to corrupt the stock Android experience with their own customized skin on top. But considering the fact that Huawei P10 and P10 Plus features EMUI 5.1 atop Android Nougat we are hoping an enjoyable interface experience. Because the last edition (EMUI 5.0) that was seen on Mate 9 generated largely positive reviews.
Both the P10 and P10 Plus will be available in markets across Europe and Pacific region starting from March. As of now, the European price has been revealed by Huawei. According to the official listing, 4GB/64GB P10 will cost you EUR 649 and a 4GB/64GB P10 Plus will cost EUR 699 whereas a 6GB/128GB version of P10 Plus will be available for EUR 799.
