GoPro has announced two additions to its action cameras line-up, called the HERO5 Black and HERO5 Session. The company also announced a GoPro Plus subscription service with the new cams.
The GoPro HERO5 Black sports 1/2.3-inch sensor that is capable of shooting videos up to 4K resolution at 30 frames per second. It can also capture 12MP still images in JPEG or Raw format. The new flagship model is waterproof up to 33 feet (10 meters) of water without a housing. It comes with improved electronic video stabilization and a built-in GPS module.
The HERO5 Black comes with a 2-inch touchscreen display. The camera features can also be controlled via a range of voice controls. It features three built-in microphones with GoPro’s advanced wind-noise reduction to record Stereo sound. There is also a button to start and stop recording. The GoPro HERO5 Black is compatible with all existing GoPro mounts. It is priced at $399 and will be available starting October 2nd.
The GoPro HERO5 Session sports many similar features as the HERO 5 Black. It comes in an ultra-compact display-less form factor, just like the original Session. The upgrades include 4K video at 30 frames per second. It can also capture stills at 10MP resolution. It does not support the Raw format, though. The HERO5 Session is also waterproof up to 33 Feet (10 meters) of water without a housing. The action cam also features voice control. The HERO5 Session is priced at $299.99. It will be available starting October 2nd.
The new GoPro Plus subscription service can be used with both new cameras. Under which, once the cameras are plugged in to charge, the content is uploaded to the cloud and can then be edited and shared from any device. The subscription also provides an access to a music library for editing, a 20% discount for accessories at GoPro.com and premium support. The new service also starts on October 2nd. It will cost you $4.99 per month after a free trial.
