Google is about to launch its new Pixel series smartphones. The Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones are being touted as the ‘New’ Nexus devices. Reports claim that the search engine giant is moving on from the Nexus brand. The company is expected to enter the flagship segment with the new smartphones. The new smartphones will come with a premium looking design and customized operating system among other things. There have been endless rumors and leaks about the upcoming smartphones. We can surely expect innovative ideas from Google. Here’s What To Expect:

Design

As per recent leaks, the new smartphones will sport identical design, except for screen size. The Pixel XL smartphone was seen sporting a contrasting design on the back, with upper quarter being a separate plastic window. There will be a fingerprint sensor on the back. The camera and flash will be at the usual top left. While you can also expect a top earphone jack and bottom USB Type-C port. The new smartphones will feature a power button and volume keys on the right key, with the volume keys towards the middle.

The new design appeared with the listing of Spigen cases on Amazon. Google is bringing an unorthodox design to the new Pixel smartphones. The design look quite sleek too.

The new smartphones are said to be manufactured by HTC. However, there wasn’t any visible branding on the leaked renders. Google is focusing on its own branding with the new smartphones. The company is also promoting is its ‘Made by Google’ campaign. Although, it seems unlikely that Google is coming up with new smartphones entirely on its won.

Display

The Google Pixel is said to sport a 5.2-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. While the Google Pixel XL is expected to feature a 5.5-inch display with Quad HD resolution.

Performance

The new Google Pixel smartphones are expected to be power-packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and 4GB of RAM. It will likely come with 32GB internal storage. There are likely to be multiple storage options. The new devices are expected to come with non-expandable storage.

Operating System

Apparently, to set its flagship devices apart, Google might not run stock Android. Instead the company is expected to feature a customized operating system. While some reports suggest that the new smartphone might run Android 7.0 Nougat. It is likely to come with a built-in Google app now with integrated Google Assistant. As per Android Police, the company may ditch the ‘Now’ branding and simply call its search ‘Google’. There might also be new navigation bar icons, new rounded iconography and a smart new launcher.

Google is also expected to bring a pressure sensitive display on the new smartphones. The company is also expected to showcase its upcoming Android and Chrome merger, Andromeda. However, it is unlikely to feature on new Pixel smartphones.

Camera

The new smartphones are expected to feature a 12 megapixel rear camera and an 8 megapixel front camera. Several rumors also suggest that the Pixel XL will come with Daydream capabilities. However, the Daydream addition is rather unlikely. The Google Pixel smartphones will offer unlimited storage for photos and videos, to be stored in full resolution.

Pricing

As per recent rumors, the Google Pixel will be priced at over $600 [approx. Rs 45,000] for the 32GB version.

Nothing has been confirmed by the search engine giant as yet. However, we just have to wait a little for all details.
