Google has just released a new update for the Nexus 6P owners enrolled in the beta program for the latest software. The latest Android 7.1.2 beta build gets the Huawei Nexus 6P in line with the other Google offerings. Those who felt abandoned last month when the same update was released to Pixel and Nexus 5X smartphones, should feel a little better now.

Android 7.1.2

At the time of writing, the factory image hasn’t appeared on the site yet, but the interested ones should keep a check for next few days. Once again, the update is meant for early testers of the latest OS. In case, you aren’t enrolled as a beta tester, you can do so by visiting here. After finishing the enrollment, just wait for the update notification to proceed further.

As expected, it’s a heavy update, sizing at 1.29 GB.

Strangely, the update for Nexus 6P is missing a really important feature, fingerprint gesture support, which was expected to roll-out with this update. The fingerprint gesture support was rolled out to Nexus 5X with the same OS last month. There is no info as to why the feature is missing for the Huawei device, but we will try to seek the reasoning behind it. So, if you were hoping to bring down notification shade via your fingerprint sensor, we are sorry to inform you the inability. But, you can definitely try out third-party apps for the same.

For those who can’t remember, Huawei Nexus 6P is the last flagship offering under the Nexus banner. In 2016, Google decided to release its own branded smartphones under the name Pixel. The Nexus line was highly popular for bringing top specs and best of Google OS at a great price. However, Google Pixel devices are pitted directly against the Apple iPhones. They command a significant price, but the experience too is noteworthy.
