Finally, the Android Nougat OS is now available to the Motorola’s Google Nexus 6 in select regions. You can get the Android 7.0 update via OTA (Over-The-Air) and factory image for manual loading. The OTA update will take a few days to reach all the corners of the world as it is released in phases. As of now, the downloadable Nougat update files are not available on Google’s Android Developer website.
The new update comes after a month of delay, which is unusual for a Nexus series smartphone. In fact, one of the USP of Nexus devices has been early access to the Android updates. The Android Nougat update was released for the LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P devices in the fourth week for August.
Google withheld the update from the Nexus 6 so far. The delay might have been caused due to hardware optimization with Android Nougat source code. Several Nexus 5X users had complained about the boot loop bug rendering their devices useless. While Google had blamed the device’s hardware in such cases, it might have been re-testing Nougat OS for Nexus 6 devices. All seems fine now, as the company has rolled out the new update for the Motorola devices.
The Android 7.0 Nougat comes with various improvements. Some of the new features include bundled notifications, improved battery optimization, and multi-window options. Several other changes have been made to enhance user experience.
