Anime fans will be excited to know that for the very first time, there will be an anime film of Godzilla. There are currently only a few details about Godzilla Anime film, but the announcement has set the hype going for it.
As for the production, Polygon Pictures Inc is going to produce Godzilla Anime film. And from the looks of it, the production team has already completed their work. The movie is co-directed by Hiroyuki Seshita and Kobun Shizuno. Hiroyuki Seshita has previously directed Knights of Sidonia and Ajin: Demi Human, while Kobun Shizuno is known as the director of the 2016 film, Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare.
Currently, there is no word on what the story of Godzilla Anime film will be, but Polygon Pictures Inc definitely knows the man to work with. The writer behind the critically acclaimed Puella Magi Madoka Magica animated series, Gen Urobuchi is hired as the writer of Godzilla Anime film. Urobuchi is also known as the writer of Psycho Pass and Fate/Zero, so fans can expect a lot from the story of the film as Gen Urobuchi has never disappointed his fans. We might even see a way different side of Godzilla.
Godzilla Anime Film will be the first ever Anime film made for Godzilla. However, an animated series of Godzilla was released in 1978. The company behind the series, Hannah-Barbera Productions also released a follow-up series in 1998, known as Godzilla: The Series.
Past And Upcoming Godzilla Films
Shin Godzilla was released on July 29, 2016 in Japan and was a huge success in the region. The film also managed to hit the $50 million revenue mark. Legendary Films is also planning to release a sequel, Godzilla 2, of the original 2014 Godzilla film. On the other hand, Funimation is currently planning to release Shin Godzilla worldwide.
Godzilla vs. Kong is also set to release in 2019. The film was previously scheduled to release in 2020, but was pushed back to 2019 due to some reasons. There are currently no major details about the movie, only that we will get to see two gigantic monsters, Godzilla and Kong, create havoc in the land.
As for the anime film of Godzilla, more details about the film will be revealed soon. According to Shizuno, they are trying to make the movie perfect for both who love Godzilla and who don’t know him. Here’s what he had to say regarding it.
“We’re aiming to make a big-scale animation entertainment that people who love Godzilla and people who know nothing about him can both enjoy.”
As for now, we currently don’t know what Godzilla Anime Film will feature, but one thing we know for sure is that we won’t get disappointed.
