Samsung has been the first major manufacturer to introduce the concept of curved, “Edge” screens in the smartphone market, and the company has been successful so far. Earlier this month, there were rumors that Huawei and Xiaomi might follow suit and might come out with their own smartphones with curved screens. Well, there’s some new information available about the Xiaomi curved screen smartphone.
Well, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has confirmed that there will be a Xiaomi smartphone with a curved display. No more details were shared by the CEO. But thanks to our sources in China, we have got some exclusive information about the alleged Xiaomi Mi “Edge” smartphone. Our sources tell us that the curved screen Xiaomi phone will not use Samsung’s Edge screen. Instead, the phone will get a 5.7-inch curved OLED display made by LG Display.
The resolution of the curved display for the Xiaomi phone is still not known, but we guess it will be a Quad HD screen at the least. Also, LGD apparently does not have the curved screen in the required volume right now, and production will take some times. This is why the Xiaomi curved display phone will be released sometime in the spring of 2017.
Apart from the curved display, the Xiaomi phone will flaunt a full metal body and will be powered by Snapdragon 823 or the next flagship chipset Snapdragon 830. Also, the phone will get 6GB of RAM and dual 12MP cameras at the back. A dual 13MP setup is possible too.
That’s all we know right now about the curved screen Xiaomi device. There’s still a lot of time for the phone to be unveiled, and the specs and features can go through a lot of change in the meantime. So we suggest you take this news with a pinch of salt unless we get some official details from Xiaomi.
