UK-based hardware manufacturer Entroware has announced that it is now shipping desktops and laptops with pre-installed Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) and Ubuntu mate 16.10, the latest versions of Canonical’s Ubuntu operating system.

The already-in-stock PCs with the long-term supported Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) and Ubuntu MATE 16.04 LTS will remain available as an option.

For the uninitiated, Canonical launched the final release of the Ubuntu 16.10 OS platform after six months of toiling. The key additions in the final release include the latest Linux 4.8 kernel that brings updated drivers and significant improvements to hardware performance.

Meanwhile, Ubuntu MATE 16.10 is more like a total rework of the aging MATE 16.04 LTS release. It comes with the latest MATE 1.16 desktop environment built on the GTK+ 3 technologies, ensuring faster performance, more efficient use of memory, and an enhanced desktop experience.

Entroware is known for offering a diverse range of Ubuntu-powered laptops, and desktop PCs  including the Nyx – an outstanding Ubuntu PC for students, developers, and mid-range gamers. Other notable desktop products include Poseidon, aimed at hardcore Linux gamers, as well as Aura, a mini PC that can be transformed into an HTPC. As for laptops, the company offers six different modes: Apollo, Athena, Kratos, Orion, Proteus, and Triton.
