Ubisoft has announced that Tom Clancy’s The Division has beaten Destiny and Watch Dogs to become the biggest new IP launch in its first week of launch. The game went on to set a launch day sales record for Ubisoft, becoming their best-selling game within 24 hours of release. The Division has also set digital sales records across PSN, Xbox Live and Steam. On Steam, the game continues to sit at the top of the Top Sellers list.
The Division has generated $330 million in its first five days of sale and had 1.2 million peak concurrent users during its launch week. Over 100 million hours of playtime was racked by these players during the first week. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot is no doubt pleased with these developments:
“The Division taking the top spot in the industry for first-week sales of a new franchise is a tremendous achievement. We are very proud of our teams, and humbled by and thankful for the millions of players who are giving us their feedback and support,” said Yves Guillemot, CEO and co-founder of Ubisoft. “The Division is the latest example yet of our unique ability to deliver immersive gaming playgrounds that keep players engaged, and that they eagerly share with their friends and community.”
Tom Clancy’s The Division released worldwide on March 8th, and is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
