With BlizzCon 2016 just around the corner, it appears we might be getting more than the usual Hearthstone and StarCraft updates. Every year’s BlizzCon is a the definitive highlight of the year with new stuff getting announced and a bombshell dropping as well. It’s the 25th anniversary of Blizzard itself and what better way to celebrate a long-running company than to announce a new game? However, what’s even more notable is the fact that it is the 20th anniversary of the Diablo franchise. So, could this mean a Diablo 4 reveal?
Could Diablo 4 be revealed at BlizzCon 2016?
When it was Duke Nukem’s 20th anniversary this year, a remaster was announced. So, there’s a good reason we might get a new Diablo game. However, there’s an equally likely chance that we might get a Diablo remaster. But a remaster of what title in the Diablo franchise? Well, if it is indeed true, it will most likely be Diablo 2. So, we could either have Diablo 4 or a Diablo 2 Remaster. And both will be equally well-received if announced.
So, this could mean that BlizzCon 2016 will be a celebratory one this year. However, there’s a slight chance we might get a major update to Diablo 3 as well. This could be in the form of a really big patch or simply another expansion. At this point, we can only base our speculations on random hints being dropped by the developer.
Either this is the right time to talk about something in production or not? For now, it all hinges on Blizzard. The 20th Anniversary of Diablo doesn’t mean we would magically get a new Diablo game or even Diablo related content. There is a Diablo 3 schedule in BlizzCon 2016, but the key word here is “Diablo 3” and not “Diablo 4”.
