Necropolis, an Action RPG made by Shadowrun Returns developers Harebrained Games has been delayed in order for its PC version to match the same release date as its console versions.
Necropolis’ publisher, Bandai Namco Entertainment, also publishes the Dark Souls games in the West, and has described the title as “the perfect companion game for Dark Souls fans”. It follows an Archmage named Abraxis as he travels to a secret underground tomb to practice magic far away from civilization. Obviously, it seems things don’t quite go according to plan.
A notable difference from Dark Souls is that Necropolis features a sense of humour to it, described by Bandai Namco as “off-kilter”. A unique aspect of the game is its constantly changing environment, aided by Abraxis’ servant, the Brazen Head. The combat seems to involve timed attacks as well, hearkening back to its inspiration, Dark Souls. Like Dark Souls, dying has a harsh penalty: you will get pushed all the way back to the beginning, without the gear that you got along the way.
Necropolis is coming out some time in summer this year for the PC (Windows and Mac), PS4 and Xbox One. Take a look at the goofy trailer below.
