In an attempt to penetrate into the vast Indian market of budget smartphones, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Coolpad launched its latest device Coolpad Mega 2.5D selfie-focused smartphone in India this Wednesday.

For its sale, Coolpad has entered into an exclusive deal with online retailer Amazon where the Mega 2.5D will be available for ₹6,999. The first flash sale is scheduled on 24 August at 2 pm, the registration for which began on Wednesday.

Like other big manufacturers like Samsung and Micromax, Coolpad too has roped Mega 2.5D with the Make in India initiative. The Coolpad Mega 2.5D runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Coolpad’s CoolUI 8.0 skin atop. The customised UI provides some extra features like added themes, smart pattern locks and some other features. The exoskeleton of Coolpad Mega 2.5D features a 2.5 D curved glass with a 5.5-inch HD (1280×720) display and a  screen to body ratio of 73 percent. The Mega 2.5 D is powered by a 1 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735P chipset which is coupled with an enormous 3 GB of RAM. The device offers 16 GB of  internal memory which can be expanded further to 32 GB via a microSD card.

Coolpad is touting the Coolpad Mega 2.5D as a selfie smartphone, the front camera is an 8.0 MP lens with f/2.2 aperture, and 83.6-degree field of view which will allow ample light to enter. Coolpad has also introduced a ‘smart beautification’ mode for some smooth selfies. The rear camera sports an autofocus Sony lens with f/2.0 aperture.

The best thing about Coolpad Mega 2.5D is that it features 4G LTE and VoLTE which supports Indian teleservices providers. The device is fueled by a 2500 mAh battery which has been touted to give 9 hours of talk time and an impressive 200 hours of standby time. The Coolpad Mega 2.5D is almost identical to the Coolpad Sky3 which was launched in China earlier.
