Earlier today, MSI rolled out the new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti ARMOR and AERO powered by the Pascal GP102 graphics processor.
Although these boards are commonly referred to as the budget-oriented high-end models, they DO NOT come cheap. The term “budget-oriented” is used only because the ARMOR and AERO happen to be among the most affordable 1080 Ti around in the market.
AERO is basically the new “virtual” GTX 1080 Ti from MSI that boasts a reference-based PCB alongside the same display configuration as we have on the much talked-about Founders Edition. On a closer look, the new AERO is different from the GTX 1080/1070 series on multiple counts. One key difference is that a new black & green design has replaced the conventional black & white design approach.
As expected, we will have two ARMOR variants as shown below, although only of these variants will be factory overclocked to 1506/1620 MHz.

As for the ARMOR series, it also comes in two variants. The non-OC is clocked at reference speed while the ARMOR OC flaunts a clock speed of 1531 MHz and 1645 MHz, falling just behind GAMING X.
The ARMOR boards ship with the same PCB as the one found in GAMING X. The major differences include the cooler that comes without the LEDs (although it does come with Zero Frozr).
Finally, as for the custom display configuration, it sports: 2x DP, 2x HDMI, 1x DVID, but no backplates.
