Batman: The Telltale Series Episode 3 New World Order all but drops the pretense that our decisions matter. Instead, it focuses on telling a fantastic story. The first three episodes are also available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Batman: The Telltale Series Episode 3 New World Order is available
Even for the most dedicated Batman fans, Episode 3 called “New World Order”, continues the series’ unknown takes on world famous DC characters. This creates unpredictable conflicts with brutal twists that will have you feeling helpless. We’ve grown away from the awkward exposition that bogged out Episode 1. We’re now in a series of dynamic relationships that have to be considered at every turn.
However, we’ve also lost the feeling that we’re shaping Batman and Bruce independently. Now, it’s mostly about Bruce. Telltale deserves attention or the anxious tension that nearly cripples you. However, the lack of any consequence in this episode really brought us down. This episode confirms that your choices won’t dramatically affect the plot but our investment in the characters and their relationship means we really don’t care.
On the technical side, there are huge framerate drops causing you to run out of time as the screen momentarily freezes and doesn’t allow you to make those split-second decision. The colorful and vibrant environments are not worth it if they come at the cost of huge performance nerfs. Thankfully, these don’t happen during the quick time events. The quick time action events are much less this time but more creatively animated. A brand new villain has also been introduced. It has a fighting style that reminds us of belle dancers.
