Google Nexus 5 that was released in 2013 is undoubtedly one of the most popular Nexus smartphone. Fresh news indicates that the Google will release Android 7.0 Nougat update for Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X on Aug. 5. However, the highly popular Nexus 5 will not be getting the Android N update.
Evan Blass, the popular tipster has revealed through his Twitter account that Google will be rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat on Aug. 5 along with the security update for this month for Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X. However, he has also stated that the Google Nexus 5 will not be blessed with Android Nougat.
Android 7.0 releases next month, with the 8/5 security patch. Sorry Nexus 5 owners, no Nougat for you ?

Google had launched the Nexus 5X built by LG last year as an upgraded version of the original LG Nexus 5. The older Nexus 5 was not included in the Android Beta program that Google had started in March for testing the Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
The five Android Developer Preview Editions that Google released in each month from March through July were made available to devices like Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Pixel C, Sony Xperia Z3 and General Mobile 4G (Android One device). Since the developer preview editions were not made available for Nexus 5, it is likely that Google has no plans to release the Nougat update for the smartphone.
The revelation made by Blass on Android 7.0 Nougat release date that is speculated to happen on Aug. 5 is quite surprising. The reason behind it is that Google has always unleashed new Android versions through new Nexus smartphones. However, it seems that Google may adopt a different strategy this year.
The Google Nexus 2016 rumors indicate that the HTC Marlin and Sailfish smartphones may release later this month. Google may not announce the Nexus smartphones in the next month as Apple is heavily pegged to announce iPhone 7 in September.
