While OnePlus has a small portfolio of devices, the Chinese smartphone boasts about it devices being ‘flagship killer’. So far, all products by the company have gathered quite a fan following. Now, the company has announced that its smartphones will soon be getting the latest Android 7.0 Nougat Update.
OnePlus has confirmed that Android 7.0 Nougat update will be released for two of its smartphones – the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 2. However, the release dates for the update are not clear yet.
“We cannot share a timeline right now, but we are already actively working on it,” said OnePlus team.
As per recent reports, OnePlus 3 will be the first to get the new Android Nougat OS, since it is the latest smartphone from the company. The OnePlus 3 was launched in June this year. The roll-out is expected to start anytime later this year. Clearly, the OnePlus 2 is the second in line for the new update. The roll-out is expected to start a month or two after the OnePlus 3 receives it.
It is not clear whether the OnePlus X and OnePlus One will get the new update or not. If OnePlus X will be considered for the Nougat, it might not get the update before the first quarter of 2017. While the OnePlus One is unlikely to get the new OS. However, desperate users can get the new update via custom ROMs such as CyanogenMod 14.
The Android 7.0 Nougat comes with multiple new features such as multi-window, direct reply notifications, enhanced power efficiency, etc. Other features include Google Assistant, VR interface, Screen Zoom, clear all cache setting, data saver, Improved file browser, instant apps, app switch, along with bundled notifications, improved Java 8 language support, and new emojis.
OnePlus is also expected to release OnePlus 3 Plus soon. It is expected to sport a 5.5-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 820 CPU, and 6GB of RAM. It will likely be backed by a 64GB internal storage [expandable to 128 GB] and a 3,000mAh battery. It may come with Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box.
