Xiaomi is rumored to begin the beta testing of the Marshmallow update for Redmi Note 3 soon. It indicates that the update will be soon rolled out to Redmi Note 3 owners
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes preloaded with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and MIUI 7. The latest MIUI 8.0 update is now available for Redmi Note 3 owners. However, Xiaomi is yet to release Marshmallow update to Note 3 owners.
On Weibo, @RanGer, the operation manager for MIUI has stated that the beta testing of the Marshmallow update was supposed to start earlier this week, but it has been postponed. The beta besting is now expected to begin very soon which the release of Marshmallow update for Redmi Note 3 users is imminent, Gizmo China has reported.
He has also revealed the Snapdragon variant will be getting the update and has not mentioned whether the MediaTek variant of Note 3 will get the update or not. Hence, the MediaTek variant is less likely to get the Marshmallow update. Other rumors indicate that the arrival of the update for MediaTek variant will be delayed.
Xiaomi has recently announced the Redmi Note 4 in China. Before releasing the Snapdragon variant of Redmi Note 3, it had announced its MediaTek Helio X10 chipset variant in China. Hence, the Chinese company is likely to release Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 powered with Snapdragon chipset in the Indian market.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes preloaded with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS and the latest MIUI 8.0 skin. Google has recently announced the Android 7.0 Nougat OS. It is yet to be available non-Nexus smartphones. Even though some companies like Sony and HTC have announced their plans for rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update to their devices, Xiaomi is yet to reveal any information on the release of Android N update for its devices.
