Even though much of the talk in the telecom arena has been focused around Reliance Jio lately, Bharti Airtel has silently snatched the No.1 crown for the fastest network in India by Ookla. For those who don’t know, Ookla is one of the world’s most credible speed test organization.
TRAI too had a similar report to show for the month of January. It’s a great start for Airtel in the new year, and to celebrate the occasion, Gopal Vittal, CEO, Bharti Airtel has announced to all postpaid users that the company will soon send out surprises.
In an email targeting postpaid users, Mittal said all users will receive “some free data” post March 13. However, there was no mention about the amount of data to be distributed. Just to recall the fellow users, Airtel introduced two new plans to counter the Reliance Jio Prime subscription offer.
Just to recall the fellow users, Airtel introduced two new plans to counter the Reliance Jio Prime subscription offer: Rs. 345 and Rs. 145
The Rs. 345 plan is a direct replica of Jio Prime member offer with a slight variation. For the said amount, users can avail unlimited voice calling and 1 GB data per day for 28 days. Whereas, with the Rs. 145 plan, users will get free Airtel-to-Airtel calling along with 2 GB 4G data applicable for 28 days. Both the plans are a direct result of the tough competition from Reliance Jio. For those who aren’t aware, Jio introduced the Prime offer subscription for Rs. 99. Thereafter, the subscribed members will get unlimited calling and messaging with 1 Gb data per day for Rs. 303/month until March 2018.
It’s not just Airtel taking the fight to Jio; Idea and Vodafone have also come up with similar offers to counter the Jio threat. We will update this space once more info on the data amount surfaces
