Microsoft started sending the Anniversary update for PC and Mobiles in August last year, but some smartphones might not receive it at all. The new addition to the list is Acer Liquid Jade Primo, which was launched with Windows 10 Mobile in April 2015.
In fact, it was one of the first smartphones to support Continuum for phones, which was actually the main highlight for the device.
However, now it seems that the company is dropping support for OS updates on it.
A company Spokesperson said, “Unfortunately, the Anniversary Update for the Acer Liquid Jade Primo leads to instability of the OS. The current version is technically flawless and resilient, so we have decided after thorough consideration to refrain from an update.”
That’s quite strange since the Anniversary update was all about improvements and bug fixes. Microsoft is getting ready to release the Windows 10 Creators Update in the forthcoming months, but since the company has refrained from the earlier release, there is no reason to expect the newer update. Hence, Acer Liquid Jade Primo is all but certain to remain on Windows 10.
It will be sad to see a decent smartphone die on an old OS when new updates are fishing out. Still, if you want to check the latest OS on your device, you can do so by rolling into Windows Insider Program. They aren’t the stablest of release, but definitely give you a taste of new features and improvements.
For those who don’t know, Acer Liquid Jade Primo features a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC and 3 Gigs of RAM. Internal storage for the device stands at 32 GB with expandable capabilities of 256 Gigs. There is a 21 MP camera unit on the back and 8 MP on the front. The smartphone supports Continuum and comes with 2870 mAh fixed Lithium-Polymer battery.
As you can see, the smartphone features decent specs, so an OS update will definitely improve the overall experience. Hope Acer or Microsoft can find out a way to seed the latest Windows 10 flavor to the smartphone users.
