Xiaomi has officially released the new Redmi 2 smartphone in India. The Redmi 2 features dual-SIM functionality with 4G support on both SIMs. In India, it works with both 4G LTE network with Band 40 and 3 on both the SIMs. Registrations are starting from Today on Flipkart and sale will take place on March 24.

The Redmi 2 with 8GB storage is priced at INR 6,999, while the limited edition with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB storage is anticipated to be released afterwards.

The phone sports a 4.7-inch HD display with ACG Dragontrail Glass protection. It is powered by a Snapdragon 420 chip with 64-bit quad-core processor and the Adreno 306 GPU. In terms of memory, there are two options, one packs 8GB memory with 1GB of RAM, and another is limited edition offering 16GB storage with 2GB of RAM.

For the camera department, the Redmi 2 features an 8 megapixel rear shooter with LED flash that records full HD video, and a 2 megapixel front camera with HD quality.

The smartphone packs a 2,200 mAh battery and runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat with MIUI v6. Other specs include Bluetooth 4.0 LE, FM Radio, USB OTG, USB Host, Wi-Fi Direct, and Wi-Fi Hotspot.

Xiaomi Redmi 2 will face the tough completion with just announced dual-SIM Moto E (2015) 2nd Gen, which will be available for the similar price.
