Red Dead Redemption 2, the much hyped and awaited video game has been delayed on both PS4 and Xbox One. Tons of rumors and speculations kept on echoing here and there related to the game’s release. A new rumor suggests that the game is delayed because of one particular feature on both PS4 and Xbox One.

Rockstar

The feature that’s been delaying the RDR2 release is reportedly the Cross-Platform Multiplayer between the PS4 and Xbox One. According to Comicbook.com, there are multiple sources that suggest that Rockstar is currently working on the Cross-Platform Multiplayer feature for both PS4 and Xbox One.

As it is just a rumor, it would certainly be a huge surprise if it comes true despite what Sony has already said about the Cross-Platform Multiplayer feature earlier this year. It seems Sony isn’t ready to get into the Cross-platform race just yet.

This is probably why the fans of Rocket League and Minecraft will soon be able to enjoy the Cross-platform feature between Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch but not on PS4.

According to Jim Ryan from Sony;

“We’ve got to be mindful of our responsibility to our install base. Minecraft – the demographic playing that, you know as well as I do, it’s all ages but it’s also very young.

We have a contract with the people who go online with us, that we look after them and they are within the PlayStation curated universe.

Exposing what in many cases are children to external influences we have no ability to manage or look after, it’s something we have to think about very carefully.”

This all fits in well with what Sony recently told Eurogamer. According to Sony, they have a big responsibility to all of its install players. Particularly, the younger Demographic is their primary objective when it comes to the Cross-platform playability.

Based on what Sony shared regarding the Cross-platform multiplayer feature, it is not clear whether the same will be happening to the Red Dead Redemption 2 or not in the case of an older audience.

Besides this, no other reason is to be believed for the delay of Red Dead Redemption 2 as the developer isn’t sharing much of the info. Sony is also silent on the Cross-platform multiplayer feature. The RDR2 is expected to debut globally in the summer season. According to a recent statement by Rockstar, the Red Dead Redemption will release in Spring 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Hopefully, on the release, fans will also have the good news of Cross-platform feature as well. This will definitely make it a great new experience for the masses.
