Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1060 continue to remain popular with gamers for the decent specs they offer. When it was launched, GeForce GTX 1080 was touted as the flagship, most advanced gaming graphics card ever created. Driven by the then new Pascal architecture, the card delivered twice the performance of previous-generation graphics card and supported innovative new gaming technologies and breakthrough VR experiences. And now, Nvidia has unleashed the updated GeForce GTX 1080 11Gbps and GeForce GTX 1060 9 Gbps Graphics cards.
Nvidia unveils updated GeForce GTX 1080 11Gbps and GeForce GTX 1060 9 Gbps
Both the updated cards – GeForce GTX 1080 11Gbps and GeForce GTX 1060 9 Gbps – are based on Pascal GPU architecture. Both cards offer faster clock speeds and deliver improved performance. The original GeForce GTX 1080 came with the 8GB GDDR5X Frame buffer, 10Gbps Memory type speed and Boost clock actual of 1733MHz. The updated GeForce GTX 1080 specs remain the same but memory type speed has been increased to 11Gbps.
The GeForce GTX 1080 was originally launched at $600 for Founders Edition and $599 for custom variants. Now, a year later, the card is being sold for just $499. Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 consists of 2560 CUDA cores and is based on FinFET architecture, which allows for significant increase in clock frequency. The new card is expected to operate at 11GB/s, which is in the same range as the recently launched flagship – Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.
The other graphic card that received an update is the GeForce GTX 1060. The original GeForce GTX 1060 comes in two variants – one with the 6GB GDDR5 frame buffer and the other with the 3GB GDDR5 frame buffer. This card, also based on Pascal architecture, features 8 Gbps memory type speed and 1708MHz Boost clock actual. The updated GeForce GTX 1060 has the same core specs, except that the memory type speed has now been increased to 9 Gbps.
