Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 users have been waiting for Android 7.1.2 update. However, a recent announcement by Google makes no mention of Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 in the list of eligible devices for Android 7.1.2 Nougat update. To the utter disappointment of Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 users, the two devices may not receive Android 7.1.2 Nougat. Both the devices are well past their two-year guaranteed update window.

According to the announcement, the next maintenance release for Android Nougat 7.1.2 is around the corner and Google has already started rolling out the public beta to eligible devices that are part of the Android Beta Program. Android 7.1.2 update includes a number of bugfixes and optimizations, along with a number of enhancements for carriers and users. While no specific mention of Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 has been made by Google in the announcement, the fact that they are not part of the eligible list of devices for Android 7.1.2 update is a strong indicator that both the devices are unlikely to receive the update.
Eligible devices for Android 7.1.2 Nougat update
The final release of Android 7.1.2 Nougat will be launched in just a couple of months and will be available for Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, and Pixel C devices. As mentioned, the list of eligible devices does not include Nexus 6 and Nexus 9. A Google employee has also confirmed that the two devices will not get the update. However, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will continue to receive security patches for a period of one year.
