Well ahead of its scheduled launch at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2017, BlackBerry’s upcoming smartphone DTEK70 images have leaked online. The leaked images hint at a design that’s unique. An initial glance at the image reveals an integrated fingerprint sensor and yes – you guessed it – the QWERTY keypad! This is what sets the DTEK70 apart from DTEK 50 and DTEK 60 models. A QWERTY keypad is quite interesting at this junction in the world of smartphones, especially considering the fact that most high-end smartphones don’t have one.
DTEK70 Specs
According to leaks, DTEK70 is likely to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor. However, according to GeekBench benchmark, the DTEK70 may come with an octa-core processor running at 2.02 GHz. The phone is expected to sport 3GB RAM. DTEK70 is also expected to feature a 4.5-inch curved screen. The speakers are likely to be located at the top center with sensors on the left. The front camera is expected to be placed on the top right corner. Rumors hint at an 8MP front camera and 18MP rear camera. The phone is likely to be fueled by a 3.400mAh battery, which is actually good considering the display is just 4.5-inches. And the best part about DTEK70 is that it’s expected to come with Android 7.0 Nougat!
In comparison, the DTEK60 comes with a 5.5-inch display – BlackBerry’s largest screen to date – Snapdragon 820 chipset and 4GB RAM, with a decent 32GB storage. All these specs are pretty standard in most newly launched devices. What distinguishes the DTEK60 is the 21MP rear camera – one of the best cameras in BlackBerry devices so far – plus the MicroSD slot that lets you expand the storage up to a whopping 2TB. And the DTEK60 is fueled by a decent 3000mAh battery.
BlackBerry, in the wake of tough competition from Apple and Samsung, said it plans to outsource the development of smartphones to focus more on its profitable software business. So, this could very well be the last device from the stable of BlackBerry.
