Apple has been tremendously successful in the smartphone sphere with every iPhone setting new records. And with Microsoft introducing Surface Studio in October this year, there have been assumptions about Cupertino giant slowing down in the desktop arena. Guess what, Apple is in no mood to let go the business it ruled for a decade.
Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple says the company is still very focused in the desktop lineup, and have some great iMac models in the pipeline. It will be interesting to see what Apple has to offer after the lackluster affair of MacBook launch this year. There were some new features including the controversial Touch Bar, but Microsoft seemed to have upped the ante with Surface Studio. Surface Studio has great features like touch screen, support for accessories like the Surface Dial, and a hinge that converts it to a drawing board.

Apple has been ruling the creator segment for almost a decade, so things favor in their side. Tim Cook revealed in posts on the Apple Web for company employees that new models are on their way and expressed satisfaction with the features in the current lineup.
He said, “The current generation iMac is the best desktop we have ever made and its beautiful Retina 5K display is the best desktop display in the world,”
New iMacs to possibly launch next year
With 2016 end just around the corner, one can expect the refreshed iMac lineup only by next year. Cook explained that customers need not worry about Apple existence in the desktop arena, as the company still holds significance place in the business.
“Some folks in the media have raised the question about whether we’re committed to desktops. If there’s any doubt about that with our teams, let me be very clear: we have great desktops in our roadmap. Nobody should worry about that. We’ve got a ton of things on our roadmap that I can’t talk about, but that I’m incredibly excited about, that are the result of pulling that string and not being bound by the box that so many people in life get bound by”, Tim Cook added.
There was no revelation about the expected release date so one can only make a guess. Let’s see if Apple is able to counter the new and impressive Surface Studio lineup by Microsoft in 2017
