Nintendo Switch patent is now public

You can look at the detailed patent at NeoGAF. The Nintendo Switch just keeps getting better and better. We were completely hooked from the start, but now they have touchscreen, motion sensors, VR support, and additional Joy-Cons. The only thing we can see a need for anymore is a battery case or something similar. Although the USB-C is basically confirmed so we can just get a bank).

A lot of people think the headset piece acts similar to the docking station. However, this would only be possible if the headset is tethered to a power outlet or has an internal battery. If so, it could do what laptops do when plugged in and in “High-performance mode”. This allows it to boost gpu clock, volts/energy use, same for cpu and ram use on it too. They could possibly add to the fps and give more raw GPU power to upscale from 720p to 1080 or 1440.

Reminder that for the docking station to boost the Switch’s performance, the fan inside the system needs to turn on. If the Switch is right in front of your face, the fan would be a bit loud.

On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with trying VR at the moment if you can try preferably the HTC Vive. It does have its downside of cables but a few companies are making backpack PCs that mostly fix that issue. It’s worth a try. You won’t be disappointed, but you might not necessarily walk away wanting one as VR currently is. But get a good idea of where VR games are heading.
