A new Asus phone has been spotted on China’s TENAA website, and if a new report from RacingJunky is to be believed, this could be the first Asus ZenFone to get a dual rear camera setup. Dual camera phones are one of the biggest trends of the year, and it seems like Asus wants to revamp its smartphone business by using this tech into its next phone.

Codenamed as Asus Z01HDA, the new smartphone has also been certified by Bluetooth SIG, which suggests that Asus could launch the phone very soon. Powering the device is a 2.0GHz Snapdragon 625 processor, coupled with 2GB/3GB/4GB of RAM with 16GB/32GB/64GB of internal storage. The Z01HDA comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display and features a microSD slot for storage expansion.

The new Asus phone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and comes with a an all-metal body. There’s a fingerprint sensor on the back, and there’s the dual camera setup right on the top edge of the rear. The TENAA listing of the phone only mentions a single 16MP camera, which may be a misprint. The Bluetooth SIG listing of the Asus Z01HDA suggests that the device features a 12.2MP+13MP camera setup on the back. You can also make out the dual LED flash, and there might be a laser autofocus module too. There’s a 13MP front camera for selfies.

The dual camera Asus phone will also get a 4,850mAh battery, which will certainly be one of its biggest selling points. The Asus Z01HDA might be launched in Q1 of 2017, though we need to wait for an official confirmation. This could be a very important phone for Asus, as the ZenFone 3 failed to create the expected magic. The company could be looking at the CES 2017 event to unveil the phone, and we could expect an affordable price tag.

For further updates, stay tuned.
