An amazing game for fans and a gateway for newcomers, Final Fantasy XV is everything it needed to be. Ages ago, players put well over 180 hours into FF7 and well over 100+ hours in FF9 in one playthrough. Needless to say. Final Fantasy XV will give you that same amount of playtime.
Final Fantasy XV is the game for everyone
Let’s be honest here. No Final Fantasy since the SNES days has had over 40 hours of actual story mode gameplay. If you were to just stick to the story you could be done with 7 – 13 in under 40 hours. What fills up the extra time is how engaging the extra stuff is.
FF7 had the Chocobo rearing + racing and the grinding to beat the Weapons for Bragging Rights. FF8 had the Card game + grinding to fill out your magic and side quests for the optional Summons.
The point is that right now, for many players, FFXV feels like the favored child of an MMO and an RPG that got into bed together. The open world feels very MMO-ish and just begs to be explored which no doubt lengthens gameplay.
The only legitimate complaint we have here is regarding the combat. Sick of holding buttons? Getting your ass kicked because it’s Noctis’ time of the month? Just warp out of the way and let the other 3 guys take care of everything while you disregard the absolute failure of an automated battle system.
Final Fantasy XV is an open world action role-playing video game developed and published by Square Enix for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One home consoles.
