Overall, PS4 Pro does deliver higher resolutions and performance. But some titles actually run slower on the new console. Sony really should stick to their word here & not let these games be sold until the problem is rectified.
Why are some games actually running slower on the PS4 Pro?
So it offers a slight increase in textures/quality and unlocked framerate in exchange for potentially lower performance. But that’s not all it offers. It offers whatever the developers want it to offer. The console itself has over a 2x performance boost over the base PS4, with the potential to run games at 4K. Performance issues are on the developers and not on Sony.
It is up to the developer to optimize the game not Sony. Sony just releases the Hardware, the developers are the ones in charge of optimizing their games. Just like Batman Arkham Knight when it launched on PC, even on the best rig, it ran like crap. That’s because the optimization was terrible, same case here with the PS4 Pro. Just give them time. Uncharted 4 on PS4 Pro in 4K Upscaled from 1440p Native with HDR IS BEAUTIFUL and feels like it runs smoother than before. So, we are pretty sure the rest of the game devs will catch up.
Also, a lot of people are complaining about the fact that the PS4 Pro isn’t compatible with 4K blu-ray® discs. First of all, the PS4 Pro is a video game console, not a 4K blu-ray® disc player. It’s meant for gamers, not movie-goers. If you want to watch movies in 4K you can buy yourself a normal 4K blu-ray® disc player or a Xbox One S or stream movies in 4K using Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Instant video, VUDU, Microsoft Windows Store, Google Play Store, iOS app store, whatever. It’s simple as that.
