It seems like The Pirate Bay is here to stay for a little while longer. While there have been certain troubles with the torrent sharing website, proxies and dedicated users are keeping the flag hoisted. Since the disappearance of Torrentz and KickAss Torrents, sites like 1337X and The Pirate Bay have been getting to gain traffic.
During recent turbulence, many users actually switched to other torrents sites such as the 1337X.TO, which is considered one of the best torrent sharing websites. While it does not compare to the ‘The Pirate Bay’, it had been a great help to many users.
The 1337X had been seeing an increased traffic recently, thanks to the loyal torrent users migrating from blocked sources. Also, the fact that 1337X brought out a new layout which made browsing and searching easier. The redesigned layout is quite reminiscent of The Pirate Bay.
“Seeing how cool a responsive layout could look we decided to make a whole new front end. That literally took months to develop, and we changed back-end code as well, which fixed several bugs and issues that were in the old version,” said a 1337X operator about the new design.
Unfortunately, the 1337X has been blocked from Google search results, for some unknown reasons. This means that you will have to visit the domain itself to find torrents from the site.
“Due to our old index being blocked by search engines, new users were having issues finding the website. We developed a new index page that contains only search, so we don’t get blocked by search engines in the future,” states a notice on the newly designed site splash page.
It seems that the 1337X is trying hard to match up to The Pirate Bay. The growing community hints at great possibilities in the future. Meanwhile, The Pirate Bay remains the best alternative for now. While certain exclusive torrents can only be found in 1337X, users can still find well-seeded torrents in an easier way on The Pirate Bay.
