Almost a week ago, two new Sony Xperia smartphones got registered at a Russian regulatory body, and it was being said that those could be the first Xperia phones of 2017. Only the model numbers of the two devices were known- Xperia G3112 and G3121. Some previous reports suggested that the phones could be either mid-range or low-end smartphones.
Today, we have got some more information about the 2017 Xperia phones. According to a new post on Chinese microblogging site Weibo, Sony will launch two new Xperia devices at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017. This could be the phones that were spotted on the Russian regulatory site. The Weibo post suggests that the smaller device could come with a 5 or a 5.2-inch screen with 1080 Full HD screen, while the bigger model could get a 5.5-inch 4K display.
The new information also tells us that the phone will get 4GB of RAM, which is a common thing to expect from high-end or even mid-range devices. Do note that this new information has no official backing, so it could be just a speculation. However, the tipster “Reviewer” who has posted these new details on Weibo has provided many correct leaks in the past. So we suggest you to take this news with a pinch of salt.
The most interesting part of this news is that Sony is still thinking about 4K display smartphones. It is very well possible that the company might launch a VR headset too to let users take full advantage of the superb 4K screen. Chances of Sony launching a flagship smartphone at CES seem slim, but for now, let’s just wait for more details.
