Meizu M5 has been launched in China, at a starting price of CNY 699 (Rs. 7,000). The new smartphone comes with features such as an octa-core processor, VoLTE support, fingerprint scanner, and a 13MP rear camera. It is seen as a competition to Xiaomi Redmi 3S. The release date for India has not been revealed as yet.
The affordable smartphone offers competitive specs at CNY 699 (approx Rs. 7,000) for the 2GB RAM + 16GB storage variant and CNY 899 (approx Rs. 9,000) for 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant. It is unlikely to arrive in India anytime soon. The company launched the Meizu M3s smartphone in India just last week.
The Meizu M5 sports a 5.2-inch 2.5D curved glass display with HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution and a pixel density of 282ppi. It is powered by a MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor (four 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 cores + four 1.0GHz Cortex-A53 cores) along with Mali T860 GPU. The smartphone has a hybrid dual-SIM slot, which allows you to expand the storage up to 128GB via a micro SD card. It runs Yun OS 5.1 with Flyme UI 5.5 skin on top.
The Meizu M5 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash with PDAF, f/2.2 aperture, and 5P Lens. It also features a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture and 4P Lens. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS/ A-GPS support. It is backed by a 3070mAh battery, that offers 66 hours of music playback.
The beautifully designed Meizu M5 sports a poly-carbonate body. It measures 147.28 x 72.8 x 8mm and weighs 138 grams. There is also a fingerprint sensor that can read fingerprints in under 0.2 seconds. Sensors on the device include infrared, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, gyroscope, and a magnetometer. The Meizu M5 comes in Mint Green, Glacier White, Champagne Gold, Sapphire Blue, and Matte Black color options.
