Microsoft has unveiled a new ‘all-in-one’ PC, called the Surface Studio. The powerful desktop computer comes with an impressive industrial design. The company also announced a new Surface Book, ‘Surface Book i7’ and the next major update to Windows 10, ‘Windows 10 Creators Update.’
Microsoft Surface Studio is quite an innovative product by the software giant. The full-fledged desktop comes with some powerful specs and innovative state-of-the-art design. It is aimed at creative professionals, who need a powerful machine for their projects.
“At Microsoft, our mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. With Windows 10, Microsoft Surface and the medium of Mixed Reality, we aim to empower the builders, the makers and the creators with the tools to create, collaborate and express themselves in new ways,” said Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft.
The Microsoft Surface Studio sports a stunning 28-inch display with UHD 4.5K resolution, 13.5 million pixels, and 3:2 aspect ratio. It provides ‘True Scale’ with its 192ppi pixel density display where 1mm on the screen equals the 1mm in the real world. Microsoft claims that it is the thinnest LCD monitor in the world. The new desktop PC comes with a ‘Zero Gravity Hinge’ which transforms from Desktop Mode to Studio Mode [at a 20-degree angle]. The 20-degree angle is ideal for designers and other creative professionals.
The Surface Studio is powered by a 6th Generation Intel Core i7 processor along with a Nvidia 980M GPU, and 32GB RAM. It comes with 2TB storage. The Surface Studio comes with a native Windows 10 toggle, that allows you to change the color environment from sRGB to DCI-P3. This helps filmmakers and photographers get accurate color reproduction without any extra special display.
The Surface Studio is available for pre-orders at $2,999 [approx. Rs 2,00,333]. However, the new desktop will be available in limited quantity this year.
Microsoft also introduced a Surface Dial, which is a peripheral device that gives tactile feedback for controlling various parameters. It can be attached to the screen at any point. It offers more intuitive control over various functions in designing software.
Additionally, the Surface Studio comes with a Surface Pen, that allows creatives to seamlessly transform the monitor into a creative canvas. It allows them to work on their artworks without the need for any extra devices. The Surface Studio will ship with Surface Keyboard, Surface Pen, and Surface Mouse.
Microsoft also announced an updated version of its Surface Book laptop. The new version comes with 30 percent more battery life and double the graphics performance. The newly updated Surface Book is powered by latest Intel i7 processor and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M GPU. It comes with a redesigned cooling system with an additional fan. The upgraded Surface Book looks same as its predecessor. It offers 16 hours of battery life.
The Microsoft Surface Book comes in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage variants at $2,399, $2,799, and $3,299, respectively. It will be available on November 10th. Pre-orders have already started, though.
